From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: after takeoff from the Ketchikan airport, about 200 feet in the air, the engine quit. He landed straight ahead on the remaining runway without further incident. Subsequent inspection revealed that the exhaust pipe had broken inside the engine compartment. The associated heat shield was not adequate to protect the wiring. A bundle of wires was melted into a ball, which included the wires to both magnetos. The aircraft had been previously modified with a newer Lycoming engine. A malfunction or defect report will be completed for this incident.
