From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Left engine quit on climbout. Feathered circled. Veered off runway landing into ditch. Torque sensor case failed. (-23) pilot departed runway 5 for a flight to columbus, Ohio. During initial climb at 300 feet the left engine failed. The pilot feathered the left engine, applied full power to the right engine and made an immediate left turn back to the airport. The pilot stated that he was unable to maintain altitude and had difficulty maintaining directional control, even with full right rudder. The airplane touched down about 2/3 of the way down runway 23 with the right main wheel off the side of the runway. The airplane slid to a stop between the runway and a taxiway. A post crash fire erupted on the right engine during the slide.
