From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft engine quit on downwind leg to runway and aircraft landed short of runway. (-23) engine failed while on base leg to runway at tyr. Pilot selected a field to land in. However, there were power lines about 300 yards at the FAR end. He put the airplane on the ground to go under the powerlines. His speed was such that a water drainage ditch sent him airborne again. This time he landed in soft dirt which caused the airplane to somersault onto its back.
