From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot called fai FSDO on 11/26/96 @ 08:30. He explained that on take-off from nome city field (94Z) at 1230L on Monday 11/25/96 runway 21, the aircraft right ski hit a snow berm as it was lifting off. An inflight visual inspection was made with no damage visible. Continued to destination (wmo) at White Mountain on landing the right ski collapsed causing the right wing tip to contact the runway and the propeller to strike. There were no injuries. Post flight check revealed that the ski attach bolt had sheared allowing the ski to collapse. Minor damage to wing & prop change needed. Mechanic dispatched from nome to inspect damage and ready aircraft for ferry flight to nome (ome). Corrective action attached.
