From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-16) The pilot reported that after making "clearing turns", student made a series of "s" turns across a road in the student practice area 10 miles northeast of felts field (sff) @ approximately 3900 MSL. After collision, PIC could see no damage from pilot position and determined that he still had control the a/c and returned immediately to sff and made a normal landing. Post flight inspection revealed RH elevator to be missing & RH leading edge of horizontal stab. Near tip crushed. Some skin stress wrinkles in vertical stabilizer were visible. PIC contacted FSDO and NTSB.
