From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: Mr. Mark cooper was one of nineteen (19) parachutist that made a deliberate jump from N1022S on January 12, 1997, at approximately 1500 local. The jump was made from 14000 feet AGL. Mr. Cooper collided with another jumper at approximately 200 feet AGL and expired shortly after impacting the ground. The other jumper sustained only minor injuries. A check of Mr. Cooper's auxiliary parachute packing record indicates it was last "aired, inspected, and re-packed on December 31, 1996". However, the parachute was not a factor.
