From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Engines running during boarding. Jumper hit by prop. Walked between fuselage and prop. Was warned but unheeded same (-23) on November 8, 1997, at 1315L, Mr. Aloia made an attempt to walk between the fuselage and the left engine when he was struck by the propeller which fatally injured him. Information gathered indicates the victim, Mr. Rodney a. aloia, wandered off from other potential parachutists boarding the aircraft. He had his parachute on at the time of the mishap. We counseled the proprietor of the jump club, richard cobler, on December 5, 1997, regarding ground procedures for loading and unloading passengers during parachuting events. Specifically, loading and unloading with aircraft engines operating, and "common sense" tactics.
