From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on 1-14-97 delta airlines flight 1144 en route Kansas city to Salt Lake City landed on runway 16L at Salt Lake City. After the airplane landed and came to a complete stop, the tower requested the pilot to expedite clearing the runway at H-5 or H-6. There was traffic at 11/2 miles on final. The pilot thought he was turning off onto the taxiway, however the airplane exited the runway approximately 300 feet short of taxiways H-5 and H-6. The airplane came to rest with the main wheels approximately 15 feet off the edge of the runway and stuck in the snow and mud. The visibility was limited by moderate snow, with an RVR of 3000 and the runway and taxiways covered by snow. These factors caused a "flat light/white out" condition which was the contributing factor for the pilot misjudging the location of the taxiways. A debriefing of the flight deck crew was conducted by delta airlines dallas based chief pilot (sam murray), with emphasis on crew resource management. privacy data omitted This is the final report.
