From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot took off and went around the traffic pattern once and landed. Aircraft pitot system was blocked by newly installed flip-up cover which did not flip up. With no airspeed available, landing was hard and guy wire on left side amphibious float separated. Aircraft came to rest on left wing tip which showed almost no attach strut was damaged as a result of torsion after guy wire separated. Strut wire appears to be 3/32" diameter instead of recommended 1/8" diameter.

As the FAA filed it
