From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: Mr. Anderson was on a pleasure trip from mackinaw to home at new haven/macomb airport #57D while in the Romeo area, his plane engine had a catastrophic failure, completely stopping and filling the cabin of the plane with smoke. He was able to glide the plane to the Romeo Airport, and attempt a landing. He states that his speed was too much, and he was too "long" touching down on the south end of the north south runway. His speed was still too fast to stop or turn. He overshot the runway, went back into the air, hitting the south side embankment of 31 mile road where his landing gear was ripped from the plane. The plane then skidded to a stop in a farm field on the south side of 31 mile, about 50 yards off the road the two rear opposing cylinders failed, thus punching holes into the engine case, this caused the smoke in the cockpit followed by an emergency landing.
