From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot started the a/c by hand propping. After it started, while walking around the wing strut the pilot noticed an increase in engine RPM. The a/c jumped the chocks and proceeded to move forward. The pilot attempted to stop the forward movement by holding the wing strut while attempting to reach inside to turn the ignition off. This attempt failed and the Taylorcraft struck two other a/c, destroying the empenage of one. The Taylorcraft was chocked but not tied down during the hand propping operation.
