From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on June 22, 1997, at approximately 0745 PDT, george e. stanley departed from a Private landing field located northeast of Ramona, California N414R, a model bill roberts Hornet amateur-built aircraft. He was accompanied by dale r. grusell, who had recently purchased this aircraft. At approximately 3500 feet AGL, stanley indicated that the rear mounted propeller failed. An emergency landing was made on the mesa grande indian reservation. During roll out the aircraft struck a barbed wire fence damaging the nose and left main landing gear assemblies. The aircraft received minor damage. Neither stanley nor grusell were injured. No fire resulted. Investigation indicated that one blade of the wooden Tennessee model 5846 propeller had failed/separated behind the leading edge. It was also noted that one of the engine air cleaner assemblies, described as a k & n air cleaner--no part number, was missing. The pilot indicated that this propeller has been installed prior to this flight and was new. It is not known when the air cleaners had last been removed and/or inspected. The last recorded inspection occurred on 3/1/97. A malfunction or defect report, FAA form 8010-4 will be submitted. This incident did not involve a near mid air collision or a pilot deviation.
