From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on July 16, 1997, at about 1450 hours PDT, british aerospace BA-jetstm-3101, N425UE, while descending through 11,000 MSL, the crew experienced a normal hydraulic system failure. Lax ATCT vectored N425UE over santa monica, CA at 5000 MSL to try to release the emergency hydraulic selector valve binding. The crew used the emergency pump handle to force the valve to the under carriage detent. Using the emergency hydraulic pump, manually extended the landing gear, the crew reentered lax traffic and landed without further incident. Maintenance personnel discovered hydraulic fluid leaking from the left wing fillet. Hydraulic line p/n 1379007D463 was chafed through the wall. The emergency selector valve p/n air 87360-1 was found to exhibit corrosion on the mated surfaces of the bobbin and valve housing. A safety recommendation to amend recurring AD 92-07-24 1800 hr. To 200 hrs. And to consider a new AD concerning hydraulic system fluid water and acid content criteria has been submitted. This incident report is considered closed.
