From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on Friday, July 25, 1997, Mr. Carter m. taylor was flying from pierre, south dakota, to custer state park airport. While tracking outbound on the 215 degrees radial from the rapid city VOR, Mr. Taylor landed a CE-150 safely on an unchartered miniature model airplane strip. There were no identifiable markings on the landing strip and custer state park airport is on the same radial. This was a solo x-c flight for the student. Mr. Taylor filled out a NASA form and was counseled by a FAA safety counselor on the matter.
