From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Bounced and blown off runway on second attempt to land in crosswind. Left wing tore loose on trees. Unskilled cross (-23) during second attempt at crosswind landing at Glencoe, MN pilot bounced and was blown to left side of runway. Brakes were applied and aircraft skidded off left side of runway contacting two trees which caused substantial damage to the aircraft. This included partial separation of the left wing and damage to the right wing from the leading edge to the spar. Accident appears to have been the result of insufficient experience of the pilot in making crosswind landings.
