From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: while on the last leg of a cross country flight to oshkosh, WI Cessna 152, N6286M experienced a loss of power. The pilot first attempted to continue flight to the fond du lac county airport. The engine continued to lose power, or other wise run rough, so pilot elected to land in a corn field rather than continue. The aircraft was landed without injury to the pilot or damage to the aircraft. Pilot stated that he saw fuel truck in the vicinity of the aircraft and assumed the aircraft had been refueled. He stated he did check the fuel level and observed some fuel in the tanks but they were not topped off. Pilot initiated cross country flight without insuring sufficient fuel to fly to his intended destination and there after for forty-five (45) minutes (night flight). This improper flight planning violated FAR 91.13(a); 91103(a); and 91.151(a).
