From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: all time are approximate. Ratings cont. Airplane multiengine, rotorcraft-helicopter, instrument airplane. The flight was a FAA pilot verification of the 6000 lb. No hv capability of the aircraft at 7000 hd. FAA adams had completed three data points. On his fourth data point a 4 lg landing impact from a 50 foot hover resulted. The landing gear was damaged and the test stopped. From a 50 foot hover and no forward airspeed, the FAA pilot did not move the collective for over two seconds resulting in excessive loss in nr and high rate of descent. The landing gear forward and aft cross tubes were bent beyond maintenance manual allowable limits. A thorough inspection revealed no other collateral damage. FAA verification pilot: chip adams.
