From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: did an "on scene" investigation of this incident and found the airplane in middle of field. No damage to aircraft was noted except a bent cowl from a cylinder that had separated from the engine. Pilot was noted for doing a fine job in landing the aircraft. The landing was made due to an engine failure. This engine had been rebuilt just 500 hrs prior to this failure. The eng. Failed 300 hours ago with the same failure to the same cylinder. The Lycoming rep. Will try to get to the engine for an inspection.
