From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: delta 628 experienced a normal takeoff through rotation on runway 28R at Boise's Gowen field. Shortly after liftoff, however, the flight crew heard a "popping sound". Their scan revealed an abnormal epr reading (1.5) on the #1 engine. Capt. boustead leveled the airplane at 5000 feet, maneuvered to the west of Boise, and subsequently executed the appropriate checklists to shut down and secure the failed engine. The airplane then returned in VFR conditions to Gowen field landing on runway 10R. The airplane taxied to the gate where the passengers disembarked without further incident. Numerous metal fragments were discovered along a 1000 foot stretch of runway 28R beginning approximately 8500 feet from the beginning of the runway.
