From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 4/16/98 at 1030 CST, a amateur built aircraft, N8072U, model rans 160F16, operated by randy j. schlitter, lost experimental wood propeller, during cruise, at 5000 feet MSL. The commercial pilot made an emergency landing in field in close proximity to the booneville municipal airport, the aircraft landing without incident. No injuries, no passengers on board. The probable cause was harmonic vibration betweeen propeller and crankcase flange. This experimental propeller was under flight testing when the failure occurred and replaced with different type wood propeller.
