From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 10, 1998, at 2117Z, a Lear 55 airacraft N700JE, experienced a generator failure after departure from addison (ADS), Texas while maneuvering through thunderstorms. The flight continued to clear the storms. The remaining generator started to spike intermittently to 275 amps and the pilots declared a precautionary emergency and diverted to Alexandria international (aex) where an uneventful landing was accomplished. Subsequent investigation revealed generator, part no 6608201-9, serial no 2456, had disintregated internally and the gns filter had shorted. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time, although the aircraft was on an IFR flight plan. The tow airline transport rated pilots and the two passengers were not injuried. The aircraft sustained damage to its previously mentioned componets, which were replaced.

As the FAA filed it
