From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Engine quit on climbout. Dropped load. Landed on highway shoulder. Hard landing. Resulted in flip over and fire. (-23)ag aicraft engine lost power shortly after takeoff approximately 200'-300' AGL. Pilot jettisoned chemical load and made an emergency landing just short of interstate highway I-15. The aircraft made a hard landing and flip upside down. Aircraft burned and was destroyed. Minor injury to pilot. Cause of loss of engine power remains under investigation. (.4)the pilot of the agricultural airplane reported that he experienced a sudden and total loss of engine power during climb after takeoff, about 250 feet above ground. He stated that he dumped his fertilizer load, and attempted to maneuver to a nearby interstate highway for an emergency landing, but lost control of the aircraft prior to ground impact. The airplane was destroyed by collision with terrain and post-crash fire. The reason for the loss of power was not determined.
