From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was a two place experimental amateur-built smyth Sidewinder. The owner/pilot modified the original design to incorporate a retractable nose wheel. An airworthiness certificate was issued for the aircraft by dar SP525001. While on a test flight, the pilot failed to lower the nose wheel. The aircraft landed on the main gear, then settled on to the runway, causing minor damage to the lower front fiberglass cowl, spinner and propeller. The owner/builder will return the aircraft to the original fixed gear design.
