From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot was on final approach to LA24 at approximately a 50-foot altitude. The airport manager advised the pilot of the winds. The pilot stated that he would go around and make another approach. The pilot stopped his descent and flew down the center of the runway. However, he did not add power and impacted trees at one-quarter mile off of the end of the runway. Investigation did not reveal any mechanical difficulties with the airframe or engine.
