From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot was attempting a take off in his aircraft when it failed to reach rotation speed. The pilot decided to abort the take off and there was insufficient runway emaining to stop. The aircraft sustained minor damage when it came to rest in a ditch. Neither the pilot or the passenger received injuries. Investigation disclosed that the pilot had done an adequate preflight including weight and balance computations, landing and take off distances required for the existing weather conditions and considerations of the runway length to be used that day. All computations were verified. The incident is considered closed with this report. Eir #98CE010082 closed no action. Incident #ICE01980024.
