From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5)Immediately after take-off, upon landing gear retraction, the pilot stated he heard a clunk. He visually checked the nose gear with the nacelle mirror and observed the nose landing gear was just hanging down. The pilot was directed to land at abe airport, Allentown, PA, on runway 24. During landing rollout the nose gear folded up, causing minor damage to the aircraft and no injuries to the pilot. Investigation revealed failure of tube assy. P/n 0842120-1, which prevented the nose landing gear from retracting or extending to the down and locked position.
