From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) Pilot flew plane to Herron Airport (7GI) to practice short field landings. Herron is hard surface 2000' rw - lights only on se side and a county road running through the center of the runway. Landed on runway 22 without incident going to the center of the runway. Another aircraft left the run-up area and was holding on runway 22 ready for take-off. Pilot announced all intentions to the traffic but received no response. Rather than do a 180 degree turn with the other pilot in take-off position, he went to the right between the county road and the runway into the grass taxiway. Prop hit dirt when wheel left runway.
