Aircraft veered left on take off roll (runway 018, olv) right rudder had no effect, aircraft traveled approx 600' then impacted trees. No injuries. Substantial damage to aircraft. (.19) on October 25, 1998, about 1400 central standard time, a Cessna 152, N5139B, registered to Douglas aviation inc, and operating as a title 14 CFR part 91 instructional flight, crashed on takeoff at the Olive Branch Mississippi airport, Olive Branch, Mississippi. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed. The airplane was substantially damaged. The student-rated pilot reported no injuries. The flight was originating at the time of the accident. The pilot reported applying full power to start his takeoff roll. He stated as he approached rotation speed he noticed the airplane continued rolling left of the runway, and started to become airborne. The airplane continued left, collided with trees and came to rest in a ditch. The pilot stated he noted no discrepancies during his preflight inspection. (.4) the student pilot stated that during the takeoff roll, the airplane drifted left of the runway centerline and the application of right rudder would not correct the drift. The airplane exited the left side of the runway, and collided with trees and a ditch. Postcrash examination of the airplane revealed no discrepancies in the flight control, steering, or braking systems. (-23) aircraft veered left on take off roll (runway 018, olv) right rudder had no effect, aircraft traveled approx 600' then impacted trees. No injuries. Substantial damage to aircraft.
