From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) Purpose of flight was a maintenance test flight. The oil pressure line between the oil pressure guage and firewall had been replaced. The airplane departed runway 25 at the Ohio University Airport (uni). At approximately 200' AGL and abeam the end of the runway the engine lost power. A right turn was iniated toward an emergency landing site adjacent to the airport. While on approach to this site the airplane's engine began to develop power. However the pilot decided that the airplane's altitude was too low and the landing was made to the off-airport site. Minor damage occured to the right hand horizontal stabilizer leading edge and the vertical fin fairing. Time to repair this a/c is unknown.
