From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) On 12/23/98 at 2225 central time at the msp airport, federal express flt 1618, at the beginning of take-off roll an electronic centralized aircraft monitoring (ecam) warning showing #1 engine thrust reverser (t/r) pressurized. Take-off was aborted. Crew cycled #1 t/r lever, ecam warning went out. Aircraft returned to active runway for second take-off which was aborted when ecam re-illuminated #1 engine t/r pressurized. Aircraft then returned to ramp for maintenance. Maintenance applied heat to the #1 engine t/r pilot valve pressure switch. System functioned normal after application of heat. Due to the #2 engine t/r being already on the minimum equipment list, the aircraft was grounded. To prevent a further occurance, the t/r directional pilot valve was replaced, and the removed unit was sent to service engineering for evaluation.

As the FAA filed it
