From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was taxiing for departure on runway 27. Started runup procedures. As the pilot throttled to 1700 rmp, the engine started running rough. The pilot smelled and saw smoke a few seconds later. Pilot then performed engine shutdown procedures and notified ground control to dispatch the fire department. Foam was applied to the engine through the front of the engine cowling. The top cowling was then removed and foam applied to the engine. Damage to the aircraft looked to be only electrical wiring in the engine compartment. Inspector investigation revealed wiring from the alternator to the engine firewall had been burned. There was heat damage to the intake tube rubber connectors and r/h ignition harness and fuel drain pull handle.privacy data omitted
