From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After take off from oceanside municipal airport (L32), CA, the pilot heard a loud noise coming from the nose gear wheel well during landing gear retraction. The nose gear mechanical indicator was pointing between the up and down position. The main landing gears were in the up and locked position (no lights). Two tower flybys verified the nose gear was not in the up or down position. The pilot performed the landing gear adnormal prodedures and landed the aircraft at mcclennan-Palomar airport (crq), Carlsbad, CA.
