From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5)Pilot statement admits to becoming overwhelmed during final approach into an unfamiliar grass runway with two towers located to the south of the airport. Pilot does not recall deliberately extending the landing gear. Just prior to touch down, the emergency landing gear extension system actuated, allowing the gear to drop. Pilot unsure if he verified that all gear were indicating down and locked condition. Upon nose wheel touchdown, the nose landing gear collapsed allowing the propeller to impact the runway and the aircraft slid to a stop. The aircraft sustained minor damage. There were no injuries reported. Amendment: subsequent investigation revealed that the landing gear hydraulic system had been experiencing a chronic problem with a valve assembly, part number 67522-002, which was required to be replaced after the accident.
