From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(From tty) gailforce corporation air taxi was taxiing on the byerly ramp when the right front engine propellers struck a mobile helicopter pad, the acft has substantial damage, no injuries were reported. (From form 23) the pilot stated that after loading cargo onboard N54757 at approx. 7PM, he started the airplane and received his IFR clearance from Peoria ATCT. The tower cleared him to taxi. As he started to move from his tie down, he started to turn left so as to leave the ramp toward the runway. Almost immediately he felt the airplane hit something. He shut the airplane down and exited. Once out of the airplane, he observed that the right engine propeller had contacted a moveable helipad that had been left out in the airplane tie down area. This moveable helipad is approx. one foot high and eight feet square. He never saw this helipad until exiting the airplane. On this dimly lit ramp it is difficult to see other parked airplanes say nothing of the non-lighted helipad. Damage to the airplane amounted to both propeller blades of the right engine. After the collision he notified the authorities, his company and canceled the flight. This incident is closed.
