From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) On 04-05-99, at 0832, N77MT landed at Hyannis, MA, upon touch down the left main gear collapsed. Mr. Matthew joseph toia the pilot reported that at touch down the left landing gear collapsed causing the aircraft to skid to a stop on the left side of the runway. Mr. Toia, who is also the builder of N77MT examined the landing gear and found that the bottom flange of the landing gear hydraulic cylinder had broken causing the full weight of aircraft to rest on the safety cam latch which bent as a result of the excess pressure. Mr. Toia states that he further examined the broken piece and found evidence of a previous fracture.
