From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On March 30, 1999, pilot took off with two passengers on board. Twenty minutes into the flight, the pilot made decision to land due to unfavorable wind direction. During the attempt to stabilize the balloon, and to prevent the envelope from touching power lines, crew members pulled the crown line causing the basket to tip over. At this stage the passengers fell down and a passenger hit her face against the burner handle. She was diagnosed having nasal fracture with septal displacement, which was surgically repaired on June 3, 1999. Copies of this report are being forwarded to operations supervisor and safety program manager for considerations.
