From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The flight, conducted by the owner/pilot, was operated under 14 CFR part 137. After departing the Oakes, ND airport and conducting aerial application, the pilot returned to the Oakes, ND airport with approximately 300 gallons of chemical/water mixture onboard the aircraft. During the approach to landing in gusty winds, the aircraft settled onto the runway in a hard landing, during which the left main gear collapsed after failing in two separate locations on the gear leg. The manufacturer has designed a new landing gear assembly that is substantially stronger. The owner was unaware of the newly designed and available landing gear until this accident. The new gear is being installed. There were no injuries and there was minor damage to the aircraft.
