A subsequent inspection of the aircraft revealed that the aircragt fuel tanks were empty. About ten gallons of fuel was added to the aircraft and the machine was flown out of the hay field to monroe county airport, Bloomington, Indiana where it was topped off with an additional 33 gallons of fuel. The hobbs meter indicated that the aircraft had flown 4.3 hours. The type data certificate indicates that the fuel capacity is 39 gallons total and 36 gallons usuable. Optimally, at 8 gph the aircraft will bly 4.5 hours. privacy data omitted This incident is closed.
