From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5)Aerostar N6073A was landing on runway 22 at the Catalina island airport. Upon touch down, the aircraft apparently was caught in a windshear or down draft which dropped the aircraft harder than normal. No problem was noted on the landing roll, until taxi off the runway, when the aircraft would not respond to the aircraft steering commands. Aircraft pulled to the left and into the dirt area next to the runway. Airport operations confirmed only minor damage to the aircraft and no injuries to the pilot or passengers.

As the FAA filed it
