What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23)Aircraft departed a private spraying airstrip north of New Plymouth, Idaho to spray an onion field adjacent to the strip. After making one spray pass over the field the engine began to lose power. The pilot made a wide turn and attempted to return to the airstrip. He could not maintain altitude with full power. He dumped the spray load and attempted an emergency landing in a sugar beet field. He could not stop before going into a drain ditch causing substantial damage to the aircraft, engine and mount landing gear structure, fuselage frame at the left landing gear attach area and leading edge damage to the lower right wing.
