From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 08/07/99, at 1420 PDT, a Mooney M20K, N321RM, registered to ronald louis dona departed Mather field (mhr) enroute to cameron park (O61). After the pilot initiated landing gear extension, he noticed the landing gear was not fully extended. Another pilot on the field at O61, became airborne in his aircraft and found that the left main landing gear was not extended. The aircraft returned to mhr, declared an emergency and landed with the left main landing gear up. The aircraft sustained minimal damage and the pilot was not injured. Investigation revealed the lower, inboard landing gear door attachment screws loosened. This allowed the inboard door to overlap the outboard landing gear door, which prevented the landing gear from extending. Privacy data omitted privacy data omitted
