From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Mr. King was hunting in the Taylor Mountain area, and was wanting to return to palmer. Called and received a weather briefing from the ena automated fss thru the sparevohn remote. Merrill pass was reported closed and the weather was good at illiamna and decided to head that direction. While enroute the weather was degrading and had to land on a cub strip 20 miles out from illiamna to wait for the weather to improve. On landing the strip was rough and the four bolts of the nose fork failed and the prop was damaged. The aircraft was ferried out the next day on a ferry flight.
