From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(.4)During a landing on a 30 foot wide Private airstrip, the aircraft bounced back into the air after contacting the runway surface. While it was airborne, the pilot failed to maintain directional control to an extent that would ensure that the aircraft remained within the lateral boundaries of the runway surface during the second touchdown. When the aircraft touched down the second time, the left main gear was off the runway. Soon after the second touchdown, the left main wheel impacted a rock that was just off the left side of the runway surface. The collision with the rock resulted in the left main gear leg collapsing and the left wing impacted the terrain. (-23)on November 28, 1999, at approximately 1230 PST, dwayne hansen departed pearson air-park on N7243V, PA-12, for a short flight to his Private air strip located at 17 Piper canyon road, portland, Oregon. The airstrip is 30 feet wide and 1400 feet long. During the attempted landing, the aircraft bounced followed by loss of control. The aircraft struck a rock, left gear collapsed, the wing tip and propeller struck the ground. No injuries.
