What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot taxied from the ramp to the run-up area and performed a takeoff check and run-up. Upon completion, he taxied out to runway 31 hold short line. After a pre-takeoff check, he taxied into position. The aircraft reached approximately 45 knots during takeoff when the right main landing gear collapsed forcing the aircraft towards the right side of the runway. The aircraft came to a rest approximately sixty feet off the right side of runway 31, and approximately one thousand feet from the threshold of runway. The aircraft sustained minor damage and the pilot was not injured. After completing a gear retraction, it was noticed that there was an unusual amount of dirt and grease on the gear down hooks and springs. After several retractions, the hooks would intermitently not engage to hold the gear in the down position. Removed and cleaned the items listed and performed a retraction without any abnormality. The aircraft had an annual inspection 10 months prior to this incident.
