From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Student pilot, Mr. Wall was practicing takeoffs and landings at Canton, SD. The wind switched from southerly direction to a westerly direction. On the next landing he lost control, the aircraft went off the runway to the east. When he brought the aircraft back on the runway the left landing gear caught the runway edge and caused the left gear to collapse. Then the aircraft started to ground loop to the right, the left wing tip, left elevator, and the propeller struck the ground. The aircraft stopped off the runway. The pilot sustained no injuries. This aircraft incident not investigated "on the scene."
