From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Ken shauman and myself investigated the fatal aircraft accident. From witness reports and site investigation: the first flight of the aircraft with a freshly overhauled engine. The question as to whether the aircraft developed full power at takeoff since the takeoff point was 75% down the 3300 ft. sod strip. The aircraft never climbed above 30FT. Turned to avoid a tree line, struck some trees and impacted in a bean field. The aircraft was shortly engulfed in flames, killing the sole occupant.
