From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot departed runway 31 at spi and climbed to 500 feet amd started aleft hand turn. The pilot reported that he heard a loud noise and the engine lost power. The tower was notified that he had an emergency and he was going down. The pilot continued a left turn east and lined up with the road that leads to the control tower. The aircraft touched down short of the road in a plowed field, traveled across the field and an airport perimeter road and onto tower road. The aircraft wings struck both sides of the open security gate and continued approximately 25 yards before veering right into a 4 foot fence and coming to rest.
