From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(.19) On June 25, 2001, about 0954 hours pacific standard time, a Beech 35-B33, N22CR, co-owned and operated by the pilot, descended into residential terrain in the community of Lakeside, California. The accident site is about 3.3 nautical miles east-northeast of the gillespie field airport, where the pilot had been cleared to land. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed. The airplane was destroyed, and the private pilot was fatally injured. The personal flight was performed under 14 CFR part 91. The flight originated from el cajon about 0935, with an undetermined destination in Arizona. The national transportation safety board investigator's review of recorded radar data and the federal aviation administration (FAA) radio communications to and from the pilot, indicates that about 0945 the eastbound airplane's altitude had reached approximately 7,000 feet, as reported by the airplane's mode c equipped transponder. The pilot advised FAA air traffic control personnel that he desired to return to gillespie, and that he was "not feeling well." The radar data indicates that the airplane reversed direction and a descent commenced. Several witnesses rep orted observing the airplane descend in a steep bank until colliding with residential property and terrain. (-23) on June 25, 2001, at about 0954 PDT, N22CR, a Beechcraft, model BE-35-B33, piloted by Mr. Gerald paller, crashed in a residential area in Lakeside, California. The accident site is approximately 3.3 miles east-northeast of gillespie field airport (ksee). N22CR was inbound for landing to ksee, and had been cleared to land on runway 27R. The plane was destroyed and the pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, was fatally injured in the accident. Visual meteorological conditions (VMC) prevailed at the time of the accident. There is no record of a weather briefing being provided for N22CR, and no flight plan was filed. The flight originated from ksee at about 0935 PDT, and was being conducted under FAR part 91. It is believed that the destination airport was the pilot's home base in Arizona. Investigation of the circumstances indicates the pilot was probably incapacitated prior to the accident.

As the FAA filed it
