What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Instructor stated that the gear warning horn was operating intermittently, occasionally operating when the gear was up. The pilot states that the gear handle was selected down, and that he thought he had a green light on the gear indicator, although the sun angle shining on the light made it difficult to be certain. Aircraft was in flare for landing when pilot heard tower saying "7311S go around, go around". Pilot then applied power and though, "what was that noise". Pilot came around pattern and landed to full stop. Damage to propeller was found on shut down. Pilot admitted that he never looked outside aircraft to verify that the gear was down. A broken wire was also found on the gear warning horn. FSDO inspector witnessed jacking of aircraft and swinging of landing gear the next day. Landing gear functions properly.
