From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Captain was landing on a 4,200 feet long, 90 feet wide, gravel runway. The runway had a number of frost-heaves that had developed during the past winter. On the initial touchdown the airplane "skipped" as the main wheels touched down on the crest of one of the frost-heaves. The airplane became airborne, floated, and touched down about 750 feet beyond the approach end of the runway. During the second landing flare, the main landing gear wheels touchdowned on the downhill side of a second frost-heave, which allowed the tail of the airplane to contact the runway. After touchdown the captain lowered the nose of the airplane, brought the engines into reverse, and completed the rollout, taxied to parking. A postflight inspection by the crew discovered a 4 feet by 2 feet puncture on the belly of the airplane, just forward of the main cabin door.

As the FAA filed it
